Edward Jones BMus (hons), CPP (Kodály), MISM: Musician and Teacher.
Welcome to my page! My name is Edward. I'm an established private music tutor based in Berkshire, United Kingdom. Hopefully this page will help you to understand a little more about me, my background and my approach to teaching music.
My petition to the U.K. government to improve the standard of music education needs to reach at least 100,000 signatories, so please do read and sign it!
I'm currently taking on a few new students and I have gaps on Wednesdays, Tuesdays, Mondays and Saturdays.
If there is something that you don't understand just get in touch and I'll be able to answer your questions more thoroughly.
"A wonderful and gifted teacher." - Mr Kumar (parent)
"You gave him such a great start - he just loves playing... Would highly recommend you to others."
Guitar and Music offers high quality music lessons to students of all ages (6+) and abilities from as little as £18. Lessons have a particular emphasis on developing musicianship skills alongside playing ability and are structured using Kodály principles. We can also dedicate time to working with a graded instrumental syllabus if required. Examinations are encouraged but not strictly necessary.
Private lessons are held at my home in Old Windsor and at local schools. These are suitable for students of any level.
Group classes are held for post-beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Access to these classes are subject to a consultation.
More information is offered in the 'Lessons' section (linked above) of this site, but feel free to contact me with any queries...
Since finishing his Bachelor of Music degree Edward has been enthusiastically teaching music. He has nearly a decade of experience as a guitar tutor. During this time he has gradually broadened his approach and he now specialises in teaching the guitar with musicianship training using the Kodály concept. Edward teaches classical guitar, plectrum guitar, sight-singing, music theory, musicianship and elementary piano. He has experience of performing in solo recitals and as an accompanist too.
"I cannot believe Nyreece is reading music after just a few weeks of lessons, when he came home he went through all the scores you've learnt and taught me a thing or two. Amazing!!"
"Ed is clearly an excellent musician and this comes across in his teaching."
As well as teaching, Edward is available for musical events requiring a guitarist such as shows, occasions and recitals, including recording sessions. Composition, arranging, orchestration and transcription services can also be offered. Anybody looking to collaborate on a musical project is very welcome to get in touch to discuss further.
Individual lessons are generally held at my home, although I do teach at schools in the surrounding area as well. I can visit schools/colleges/universities in the following areas...
In the future I intend to have more information about my own creative projects on here too, as well as teaching resources, my blog, recordings, compositions and who knows what else. There is actually already rather a lot of things that I've done that I've posted on my YouTube account, my Soundcloud account, my Twitter and my Facebook, for those who are interested.
